Richard Cooper
Richard has over two decades’ experience analysing the film and TV content markets – initially as a home entertainment retail strategy and from 2006 as a media industry analyst. He advises a broad range of clients, from the Hollywood studios, broadcasters, pay TV operators, regulators to investment firms on the development of media and the entertainment business. As Research Director at Ampere Analysis, Richard has at one time worked across all our key subscription products, and is currently directly responsible for the Markets – Operators and Markets – Content services. Prior to this he built-out and managed the Analytics – Commissioning Service, creating the subscription product and subsequently building the team around it. He also developed Ampere’s Metadata team, extending the capabilities of the wider Analytics suite. Richard has been instrumental in overseeing a significant number of new film and TV focused products and services over the last two decades. These include several content tracking services alongside more traditional research products. Richard is an expert in data forecasting and modelling and has created analysis tools focused on VoD services, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, and recently launched US studio services, alongside pay TV tracking and forecasting models for international pay TV providers. Richard has led a large number of custom consulting projects for senior stakeholders in a wide selection of blue-chip organisations. He is frequently quoted in national, international and trade press including The Guardian, The Financial Times, Variety, Broadcast and Screen International. He is also a regular speaker at UK and international content-related conferences and has made numerous radio and TV appearances.
